GMX is a Fusion archetype that pairs "GMX" researchers with Dinosaur monsters. Its central card, GMX Applied Experiment #55, excavates the top cards of the Deck until a "GMX" monster and a Dinosaur monster have both been excavated, then Fusion Summons a "GMX" monster using the excavated monsters. Each excavated card makes you lose 400 LP.
Other cards excavate the same way, with no LP cost: GMX 55th Experiment Report stops at the first "GMX" card and adds it to the hand, GMX Suppression Squad stops at the first Dinosaur and sends it to the GY. GMX - VELOX stops at the first "GMX" monster or Dinosaur and also costs 400 LP per card. Anti-GMX Final Experiment excavates 5 cards and negates a monster effect if it finds a "GMX" card.
The more "GMX" monsters and Dinosaurs your Deck holds, the shorter the excavations — and the less they cost. This tool puts a number on that cost for your Yu-Gi-Oh! Deck.
In a Deck of N cards including K cards looked for, the probability of having to excavate more than n cards, and the average number of cards excavated, are:
P(> n) = C(N−K, n) / C(N, n)
E = (N + 1) / (K + 1)
Applied Experiment #55 looks for two groups at once: the tool combines both laws (a "GMX" monster is still missing, or a Dinosaur is still missing) to get the number of cards excavated, multiplied by 400 LP.
FAQ
400 LP per excavated card. With 12 "GMX" monsters and 8 Dinosaurs in a 40-card Deck, it excavates between 5 and 6 cards on average, about 2,200 LP. The tool gives the exact figure for your list.
Yes: the LP loss is not a cost you can decline, and you lose if your LP drop to 0. The risk is very low at 8,000 LP, but it climbs quickly as your LP go down or when the Deck holds few Dinosaurs.
A card with "GMX" in its name. Returned Dino Daneen and Evolved Daneen are Dinosaurs played in the deck, but they are not "GMX" cards: the tool counts them as Dinosaurs only.
No. GMX Lab #5, Chairman Kimridge and Associate Noma place cards on top of the Deck, which lets you choose what is excavated first. The tool computes the case where the Deck has not been set up.
