How to calculate your draw odds in 3 steps

01

Import your deck

Pick one of your saved decks or paste a YDKE code — no account needed for YDKE.

02

Build your game state

Put cards in your hand, on the field or in the GY / banished — or draw a random opening hand.

03

Read your odds

See the exact odds of drawing every remaining card over your next draws, alone or combined.

Why calculate your draw odds mid-game?

Most deck probability tools stop at the opening hand. But the real question often comes a few turns later: with the cards already in your hand, on the field and in the Graveyard, what are the odds that your next draw is the out you need?

The Hand Lab answers it by removing every card you place from the Deck, then applying the hypergeometric distribution to what is left. Each card gets its exact odds over the next 1 to 20 draws, and you can select several cards — all your board breakers, for example — to get the chance of drawing at least one of them, or all of them.

To measure the overall consistency of your deck before a tournament, pair it with the deck probability calculator and the opening hand simulator, then adjust your ratios in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Deckbuilder.

What can you calculate with the Hand Lab?

The mathematical formula

Every card you place in your hand, on the field or in the GY leaves the Deck. With N cards left, K copies of a card and n draws, the odds of drawing none of them follow the hypergeometric distribution:

P(0) = C(N−K, n) / C(N, n)

The chance of drawing at least one copy is 1 − P(0). To draw every target card, the tool applies the inclusion-exclusion principle over all the selected cards.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about draw probabilities

Logged-in players can pick one of their saved decks in one click. Without an account, paste a YDKE code (ydke://…) exported from most deckbuilders such as YGOPRODeck or EDOPro, or the content of a .ydk file. Only the Main Deck is used, since it is the only one you draw from.

Drawing is a random draw without replacement, described by the hypergeometric distribution. With N cards left in the Deck, K copies of a card and n draws, the chance of drawing at least one copy is 1 − C(N−K, n) / C(N, n). The result is exact, not an estimate from random simulations.

Every card you place in your hand, on the field or in the GY / banished leaves the Deck: the Deck gets smaller and fewer copies of the cards you placed are left. The odds of drawing every other card therefore go up slightly, exactly as in a real duel.

"At least one" gives the chance of drawing one or more of the selected cards — ideal for interchangeable outs such as hand traps or board breakers. "All of them" gives the chance of drawing every selected card at least once — ideal to check whether you can assemble a combo that needs several specific pieces.

Yes. The tool is free and works without an account with a YDKE code. Creating an account only lets you import your saved decks directly, without copying any code.
