What is Pot of Prosperity in Yu-Gi-Oh!?
Pot of Prosperity is a Spell Card that banishes 3 or 6 cards of your choice face-down from your Extra Deck. For the rest of the turn, battle damage your opponent takes is halved. You then reveal a number of cards from the top of your Deck equal to the number banished, add 1 of them to your hand, and place the rest on the bottom of your Deck in any order. You can only activate 1 per turn, and you cannot draw cards by card effects the turn you activate it.
Unlike Pot of Sloth (which makes you draw cards) or Pot of Extravagance (which banishes without revealing anything), Pot of Prosperity shows you the revealed cards before you choose: if the target card is among them, you're guaranteed to get it. So the question isn't "which card will I draw" but "is this card among the revealed cards?" — exactly what this calculator determines.
Since the card is limited to 1 copy in the Advanced Format, you can only ever count on 1 single copy in your Yu-Gi-Oh! Deck. This calculator estimates, for any target card, your real odds of seeing it appear among the revealed cards.
The mathematical formula
Letting N the number of cards remaining in your Main Deck, K the number of target cards it contains, and n the number of cards revealed (equal to the number of Extra Deck cards banished, 3 or 6), it's a draw without replacement described by the hypergeometric distribution. The probability of revealing no target card at all is:
P(0) = C(N−K, n) / C(N, n)
The probability of revealing at least 1 target card is therefore simply 1 − P(0). The calculator applies this formula directly for n = 3 and n = 6, along with the full distribution of how many target cards could be revealed.
