What does Reasoning do in Yu-Gi-Oh!?

Reasoning is a Normal Trap. Your opponent declares a monster Level from 1 to 12, then you excavate cards from the top of your Deck until you excavate a monster that can be Normal Summoned/Set.

If that monster is the declared Level, all excavated cards are sent to the GY. If not, you Special Summon that monster, and the other excavated cards go to the GY.

It all comes down to the Level spread of your deck: the more one Level dominates, the likelier your opponent is to declare it. The calculator puts a number on that risk for your Yu-Gi-Oh! Deck.

FAQ

Reasoning FAQ

The most represented Level among the Normal Summonable monsters of your deck: it is the most likely to be excavated first. The calculator flags it in red.

Yes. A Level 5 or higher monster can be Normal Summoned with Tributes: Reasoning stops on it and Special Summons it with no Tribute.

It does not count: the excavation goes on, and it is sent to the GY with the other excavated cards.

On average, very little: drawn monsters leave the Deck at random, without favoring a Level. The main risk is running out of Summonable monsters in the Deck, which the calculator accounts for.
