What is Simultaneous Equation Cannons in Yu-Gi-Oh!?

Simultaneous Equation Cannons is a Trap card that turns your Extra Deck into a giant calculator. When activated, you banish from your Extra Deck 1 Fusion Monster and 2 Xyz Monsters sharing the same Rank, provided the sum of their Levels and Ranks is exactly equal to the total number of cards in both players' hands and on the field.

If this first condition is met, you can then apply an optional second effect: return 1 of the banished Xyz Monsters and the banished Fusion Monster to the Extra Deck, provided the sum of their Level and Rank equals the Level or Rank of 1 face-up monster your opponent controls. If so, you then banish everything your opponent controls — a full board wipe.

Since the two banished Xyz Monsters share the same Rank, the second condition is automatically derived from the first: it's a real system of two equations with two unknowns (the Fusion's Level and the Xyz's Rank), hence the card's name.

Building a Yu-Gi-Oh! Extra Deck covering as many Fusion Levels and Xyz Ranks as possible increases your odds of being able to solve the equation regardless of the board state.

The mathematical formula

Letting N be the total number of cards in hands and on the field, and letting M be the Level or Rank of the targeted opponent's monster, the system to solve is:

Level(Fusion) + 2 × Rank(Xyz) = N

Level(Fusion) + Rank(Xyz) = M

Solving this system directly gives: Rank(Xyz) = N − M and Level(Fusion) = 2M − N. The resulting Rank must be between 1 and 13, and the Level between 1 and 12, for the combination to be playable — otherwise no card in your Extra Deck can satisfy the equation for that board state.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about Simultaneous Equation Cannons

It's a Trap card that banishes from your Extra Deck 1 Fusion Monster and 2 Xyz Monsters of the same Rank, whose combined Levels/Ranks equal the total number of cards in both players' hands and on the field. You can then return 1 of the banished Xyz Monsters and the banished Fusion Monster to the Extra Deck if their combined value equals the Level or Rank of a face-up opponent's monster, which then banishes everything the opponent controls.

It's a system of two equations with two unknowns. Letting N be the total number of cards and M the Level/Rank of the targeted opponent's monster, the Xyz Rank equals N minus M, and the Fusion Level equals twice M minus N. The calculator applies this formula directly.

A Fusion Monster's Level must be between 1 and 12, and the Xyz Rank between 1 and 13. If the formula gives a value outside these bounds, the combination doesn't exist for this number of cards and this opponent's monster — target something else or wait for a different card count on the field.

Yes, in an actual game you need a Fusion Monster of the calculated Level and two Xyz Monsters of the calculated Rank physically present in your Extra Deck. The tool shows you examples of matching cards from the database to help you build your Extra Deck accordingly.
